We've been wandering in the Heavy Equipment forums in search of useful information to bring to you on this site.
Sometimes we find things that I think are just fun. I was looking through a section about GPS technology being used to track stolen equipment.
A contributer from Michigan shared how his local government placed gps tracking devices on their road work equipment.
Naturally, the workers assumed that the devices were for the purpose of spying on them and they immediately looked for a solution.
One of the guys realized that gps signals cannot go through metal. So what was next?
Every driver put a "tinfoil hat" on his gps ariel and voila! When the city looked for their machines, there weren't any! Anywhere!
I don't know why but that just makes me laugh.
Anyway, no harm no foul, management assured them that they were just keeping track of their equipment and not of the drivers so the tinfoil hats were removed, left off and now the city can remotely keep track their machines.
;-)
